Join us for my opening reception next week Thursday May 23rd at the Moakley Federal Court House in Boston!
Find out how an acre of seagrass supports 40,000 fish and 50 million small invertebrates. Seagrass meadows support 20 % of the world’s major fisheries and provide vital nutrition to about 3 billion people.
To illuminate us on Eelgrass Habitats and Boston, I am pleased to announce we will be joined by Juliet Simpson. She will give an overview of what eelgrass is, where & how it grows, why it’s great (habitat, water quality, carbon capture, beauty) and how it relates to Boston Harbor.
Juliet Simpson is a aquatic ecologist with the MIT Sea Grant College Program in the Marine Advisory Services group. She works in coastal habitats such as eelgrass meadows, salt marshes, and towns, identifying human impacts on these habitats and helping them mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts.
Please arrive early to go through security and meet us up on the second floor atrium around 4:30. Juliet will start her talk at 5PM.
