Each time I’ve been on field work, we have seen an abundance of Epiphytes. Under normal conditions they have a symbiotic relationship with seagrass using them almost like staircases. If epiphyte growth becomes too dense—often due to excess nutrients from pollution—it can block sunlight and stress the seagrass. Balanced ecosystems keep epiphytes in check, allowing both them and their seagrass hosts to thrive.
